Project Michael House Client St Albans High School for Girls Value £1m Design Team Bickerdike Allen Partnership, DB Management, Ferguson Brown Contractor Neville Special Projects Structural Solution Addition of new classrooms above existing drama space within 1990’s built extension to the school buildings.

A prefabricated system was selected due to speed of installation, and ability to manufacture off site with prefixed mechanical and electrical services throughout. The enabling works were completed within a 4 week period leading up to the December shut down, with the entire lift and fit process completed during the school holidays. Once installed on site, the final connections were completed and commissioned within days.

Structural works included the assessment of the existing structure for the additional loadings, and the design of the new support structure installed in place of the existing roof, with liaison between prefabricator and design team to ensure a smooth and fast tracked build process.
